Just Four More Transfers - Solamente Quatro Mas Traslados

Bought from the Peruvian restaurant - below
Comprada al restaurante peruano - abajo

This is the last week of Elder Read's present transfer.  They last for 6 weeks and at the end of this week they'll be given their calls.  And then he'll have just four more transfers until the end of his mission.

On Sunday they found a new investigator!!  And also they heard a lot from members and investigators about the World Cup.  He says what a shame England lost, but he was told that they played well, although he doesn't believe it!  (They were saying it to console Elder Read). This is the first World Cup he's not going to see, so he has charged us to keep him informed!!!

Elder Read has a feeling that during the next transfer they are going to have a baptism.  He doesn't know exactly why he feels that way but he'll find out.

In the Mission's Weekly Bulletin is this:  Riddle: What can run but never walks, has a mouth but never talks, has a head but never weeps, has a bed but never sleeps?

Very easy.  Do you agree?

Back to the football:  Elder Read said he knew that Holland was going to beat Spain. But he hoped it wouldn't be by so much: 5-1.  Well, there we are; we'll just have to see what happens next.  Although he's resigned to missing the World Cup at least he'll be able to see the next Olympics that Brazil is due to host in 2016; but what he doesn't know is that London is being held in reserve in case the Olympic Stadium being built in Rio isn't ready in time.

Yesterday for P-Day they were actually going to play football, but in the end they couldn't.  They were waiting for an investigator and some members, but the investigator had a doctor's appointment so they're having to wait until another day.

Elder Read says he'd like to train again.  At the end of the week they'll discover where Elder Crandall is going and who their new companions will be.

Some months ago the youth of Portsmouth Stake sent Elder Read a package, but he says that it still hasn't arrived, so he's sure it's been lost.  It seems that the safest thing to do is to send parcels to the Mission:
Mission address
Elder Roberto Read
Av. Jesús Santos Rein Nº 2, 3 D-E
Edif.
Ofisol
Fuengirola
29640 Málaga

The other day Elders Read and Crandall were at some members' house and he heard some Latin-American music on the radio.  Elder Read had to restrain himself from dancing!!

Probably due to his friendship with the branch mission leader's parakeet, and the loss of his budgie at home, he says that after his mission he's going to get a "love bird."

Ver foto arriba
They went to a restaurant  with a name I'm not allowed to translate in PC Britain. The top photo shows Elder Read with our very favourite Peruvian drink: Inca Kola, that he was able to buy at this restaurant

Elder Read dice:

jaja, en el boletín semanal hoy hubo esto:  Riddle: What can run but never walks, has a mouth but never talks, has a head but never weeps, has a bed but never sleeps?

Entonces vamos a quedar otro día.

Quiero entrenar otra vez.

A Messy Parakeet - Un Periquito Sucio

Last week was another one described as "a little difficult" by Elder Read.    They taught 15 discussions, although only 2 or 3 were to investigators and the baptism will not take place on the planned date as the investigator wasn't at church on Sunday.  But this is missionary work and they rise to all the challenges.

And now for something rather amusing:
Their branch mission leader has a parakeet they call Pluma.  And there it is on Elder Read's head in the photo.  Elder Read says that he and the bird  get on really well!!  When he visits, he calls the bird who always flies to him and lands either on his shoulder or on his head. On Saturday during missionary correlation the bird did its business on Elder Read's shoulder and on Sunday during a prayer.  But they're still mates!

As ever, all is well.  He can't believe he's only got six months left!!

This week they've got a zone meeting which Elder Read is looking forward to - and next month he's going to see various ex-companions when they have special training by the mission president.  We'll have to ask for some photos.

And that's it for another week.

Elder Read dice:

¡SOLO ME QUEDA 6 MESES!

The week just gone has been a little difficult for Elder Read, but they are hoping for a baptism on 21st June.  However, the Investigator, named Jaime and who is from Columbia, was baptised into the pentecostal church and does not yet understand the need to be baptised again. However, he'll give his answer before the 21st.

He is going to buy his new shoes next week as there's a shop, which is very good, near where they have their district meetings each week.  His knee is hurting again but he believes that with the new shoes the pain will go.

So his shoes are even more worn - see the photo.

This week is their zone meeting in Murcia;  Elder Read is expecting to see some of his friends so he's quite excited.

They are working hard each day, so he's feeling more and tired - but that's normal, he says.

Elder Read dice:
