Farewell Elder Read - Adios Elder Read

Elder Read flew out of Heathrow at 7.10am on Wednesday 5th December.

Here we are saying farewell.

He headed for the MTC in Madrid and we heard from him that evening.  He said he had arrived safe and sound and had settled in well and his companion was Elder Rodriguez.  They went to the temple, which is right next door to the MTC, the next morning.

The following Saturday they went to the local park and placed two Books of Mormon. And last Saturday something rather interesting happened which I'll recount in Robbie's own words, with translation into English:

The Testimony of the Squirrel - El Testimonio de la Ardilla

Pues te cuento algo que me paso el sabado. El sabado nos fuimos al parque hacer proselitismo como todo los sábados (Por se caso este historia se llama "El testimonio del ardilla") Pues mi compañero y yo estuvimos camiendo, buscando personas. Pues vi a una ardilla, y pensé "Ooooo ardilla!!" y saque mi cámara para tomar una foto. El ardilla se acerco hasta mi pie!!! Jeje pues mi compañero dijo "Oye Elder, vamos, hay que trabajar!" (Que bueno compañero!!) Pero yo todavía estaba adorando este ardilla que estaba tan cerca y que me estaba mirando. Pues, Dios sabe que alguna veces me pongo muy distraído .. Y estoy seguro que esa ardilla me busco. Te cuento porque. Una señora empezó  a hablar con nosotros diciendo que el ardilla queria comida. Pues empezamos a hablar con la señora, hablamos sobre el evangelio y paso y al fin regalamos un libro de mormón a ella, y lo va a leer. Entonces el testimonio del ardilla. Entonces mañana me voy a campo. Y tengo una carta para ustedes pero tuve tiempo para mandar lo, entonces lo voy hacer el jueves durante P-day.

Now I'll tell you what happened on Saturday.  On Saturdays at the MTC we go to the park for proselyting - and this story is called "The testimony of the squirrel."  so my companion and I were walking through the park looking for people, and then I saw a squirrel and I thought "Ooooo squirrel!!"  and got out my camera to take a photo.  The squirrel came right up to my foot!!!  HeHe!  then my companion said "Come on Elder, let's go.  There's work to do."   (What a good companion!)  However, God knows that I can be quite distracted at times..and I am sure that this squirrel sought me out.  And I'll tell you why. A lady started to talk to me, saying that the squirrel wanted food.  so we then started to talk to her about the gospel, leading to our giving her a Book of Mormon.  There then is the testimony of the squirrel.

Tomorrow we go into the field.  I have a letter for you two and will send it when i have time, which I'll do during P-day.
