El blog que desapareció. The Blog that disappeared: A hard week but very good. The bishop says they need a car!

This is now the second version of  the blog as for some reason it completely disappeared last night.  Let's hope it doesn't disappear again, but this time I'm taking a copy of it.

As one comment put it: The smile says it all!   La sonrisa dice todo!
As you can see from the three hymns, this was taken last Sunday. In case you were wondering, the hymns are:
72          Creo en Cristo                              I Believe in Christ
118        Asombro Me Da                          I Stand All Amazed
147        Recojamos los Destellos                Capture Sunshine, which isn't in our hymnbook.
Agotado después estudiar.  Worn out after studying.

Now for Elder Read's report in English - for the second time!!

He says that the last week was quite hard as far as work goes, but he doesn't elucidate.  However, he and his companion feel absolutely fine as they received all the strength they needed - so all is well.

Elder Read's companion "is great."  He comes from North Ogden, Utah, which is about 20 minutes north of Salt Lake City and speaks Spanish well, although at times he gets rather frustrated.  I understand the feeling well as the word you want just isn't there.  You know it when you hear it but you haven't got it when you want it!  However, Elder Hampel is learning the language really quickly.  They always speak Spanish when they're out of the flat.

Their investigator Joao is progressing little by little, but the Word of Wisdom can often be a problem so he's not ready for the target date for baptism.  They'll see what happens.

They are working with a family where one half is active and the other less-active, so their target s to get them back to the temple within a year.  The Elders were going there for Family Home Evening on Monday and were going to talk about the temple.

As Elder Read now leads six companionships, including his own in his district, they are about to divide the area.  The sisters will take the city while Elder Read and Elder Hampel will travel to the surrounding towns and villages.  The bishop told Elder Read that they would need a car as the bus timetables were such that otherwise they would waste an awful lot of time travelling.  He was going to speak to the Mission President on Monday, but with the influx of missionaries there must be a great shortage of cars.  However, if it's the Lord's will, then they'll have one and they'll have to watch a very amusing DVD probably produced by President Shamo on not misusing the car.

These three photos below were taken on P-Day on Monday, which they spent in the old quarter of Cartagena, which Elder Read says is really beautiful.  When his mission is over we'll all go back to the Spain, meet the members and missionaries, and explore places like this.

What a beautiful sunset!

A literal translation:  The Church of Jesus Christ of the Saints of the Latter Days.

Elder Read dice:

Van a dividir nuestra área.
