Elder Read and the missionaries in his new zone

Elder Read is now in Córdoba, which is perhaps the most beautiful town he has seen.
The day before he left Huércal-Overa they had an "improvised" exchange or workover and he was with Elder Nyland for the day.  They had a district meeting and then went to the branch president's house and had  home-made pizza which was absolutely delicious!   He says this was after saying goodbye to everyone and finding a new... but he doesn't say what.  Perhaps he means an investigator.

Then they went back to the flat and he finished his packing, which was very little, as he had done most of it already.  The next morning they were up at 6 in order to take the bus at 8 to go to Murcia, where they met loads of missionaries.  (I've just worked out that Elder Nyland must have been travelling with him as he must have had a transfer too).  Elder Read also met Elder Rodriguez, who was his companion in the MTC. He took out his guitar at the bus station and they sang together!

Then at 11.30am the bus left for Seville and he bumped into a woman from Manchester who had been living in Spain for the past year, and they chatted for a while.  He adds that there are a lot of English people in the south of Spain, although he hasn't met any in Córdoba yet.

The bus took Elder Read to the railway station, where he then took a train from Santa Justa de Sevilla at 19.25.  He couldn't believe that he was going to be near Seville yet again, in fact for the third time.  He's been in the Sevilla 1 zone twice and now he's in Sevilla 2. He finally arrived at Córdoba at 20.45 - REALLY TIRED.

He really likes Córdoba, which is very large and very beautiful.  He is in a branch with only 50 members, and there was an attendance of 48 last Sunday.  There's lots of work to do there; they need to strengthen the members and enthuse them.  

Nearly all of them are Spanish. Elder Read says it's going to sound a little strange but he's never seen so many Spanish in a town during his whole mission.  Normally there are loads of Latinos and foreigners; but in Córdoba they're all white!!!  

He and Élder Pomazón, who's still learning, get on really well.  Elder Read's Portuguese is improving as there's a Brazilian family so he can practise.

As a Mission they have just started to read the Book of Mormon with a goal of finishing it by 31st December, and he asks us to join them.

Pues aquí estoy en Córdoba. Quizás la cuidad más bonita que he visto :D 

Pues. Que les cuento. Tuvimos un intercambio de improviso en Huércal-overa el día antes que partimos. Estuve con Élder Nyland por el día. Tuvimos la reunión de distrito Huércal y luego me fuí con Élder Nyland a la casa del presidente de rama para comer pizza casera yumyumyumyumyumyum!! :Después de despedirnos de todos y después de haber encontrado un nuevo!!! :D fuimos a casa, empaqué lo poco que me quedaba y nos levantamos a las 6 y algo, no recuerdo, para recoger el bus a las 8 para ir a Murcia. En murcia nos encontramos con un montón de misioneros. También me encontré con un menos activo que visitamos en Cartagena :) Luego también me encontré con Élder Rodriguéz, mi compañero del CCM :) Saqué me guitarra en la estación y nos pusimos a cantar él y yo jaja :P 

Pues a las 11:30 salió el bus para Sevilla. Me topé con una inglesa en el bus y estuvimos charlando un poco. Es de Manchester y lleva un año en España. Hay muchos ingleses en el sur de España. No he visto ninguno aquí en Córdoba aún.

Pues llegué a la estación y luego me fui a la estación de trenes de Santa Justa de Sevilla para tomar el tren a las 19:25. NO PUEDO CREER QUE ESTOY CERCA DE SEVILLA OTRA VEZ jaja :P Por tercera vez estoy en esta zona :P Bueno, he estado en la zona de Sevilla 1 dos veces y ahora estoy en la zona de Sevilla 2 :P

Llegué a Córdoba sobre las 20:45. MUY CANSADO. Y luego tuvimos que llevar las maletas de los nuevos élderes porque han quitado las hermanas aquí. Llegué al piso muerto.

Me gusta Córdoba. es una cuidad MUY grande y MUY hermosa. Es una rama de solo 50 miembros; había 48 de asistencia ayer. Hay mucho trabajo aquí. Tenemos que fortalecer a los miembros y animarles. Casi todos son españoles.

Esto va a sonar un poco raro, pero nunca he visto tantos españoles en una cuidad durante toda mi misión. Normalmente hay un montón de latinos y extranjeros. Pero aquí. TODOS SON BLANCOS!!!!!

Jaja pues les quiero mucho. Élder Pomazón y yo nos caemos muy bien. Todavía esta aprendiendo. Y mi portugués va mejorando :) Hay una familia brasileña entonces puedo practicar :)

Hoy hemos empezado a leer el Libro de Mormón como misión. LA meta es terminarlo para el día 31 de diciembre :) les invito a que lo hagan también :)

Elder Read has been transferred to Córdoba!  President Deere phoned him and said that his two tourist spots are the Alhambra in Granada and the Mesquita in Córdoba and that Elder Read could visit them; so that's what he's going to do!

He says he's learnt a lot in Huércal Overa and that the almost six months he has spent there have passed really quickly.

For P-Day on Monday they had breakfast with some members and last Friday an English couple invited them to eat.. How Lovely!! he says. In fact, the brother knows me - Elder Read's father - as he was a  worker at London Temple, where I'm a day worker.  Here are a couple of photos: 

The truth is, says Elder Read, that he's excited by this move and knows they're going to see a lot of miracles in Córdoba.  His companion is  Élder Pomazón from Perú.  How amazing is that!!  Elder Read says that in fact he knows him and he's a little loco!!  And they'll get on just fine.

He doesn't know what else to say.  They were going to have lunch at an English restaurant on Monday - that's him and his companion, Elder Dean, just the two of them.  And they'll see what's on the menu.

He's packed everything he can for the move.  It now just remains to say goodbye which, as ever, is very difficult.

¡CÓRDOBA! 

Presidente llamó y me dijo que sus dos lugares turisticos son la Alambra en Granada y La Mesquita en Córdoba. Me dijo que tengo que visitarla jaja :P Entonces eso es lo que voy a hacer :) jaja

He aprendido un montón aquí en Huércal. La verdad que estos caso 6 meses an pasado MUY rápido.

Hoy desayunamos con algunos miembros y el viernes algunos miembros ingleses nos invitaron a comer. ¡QUÉ RICO!! :D 

De hecho el esposo te conoce papá. Él era un obrero en el templo de londres por un tiempo. Estoy mandando una foto.

Pues la verdad es que estoy muy animado por este traslado que viene. Vamos a ver muchos milagros en Córdoba lo sé. MI compañero se llama Élder Pomazón es de Perú. Ya lo conozco de hecho. Es un poco loco pero muy bueno jaja :P 

La verdad es que no sé que más decir....

Vamos a ir a almorzar en un restaurante inglés aquí en media hora. Solos. Vamos a ver que tienen.

Ya he empacado casi todo. Solo queda los que necesito para los próximos días.

A Baptism? ¿Un Bautismo?

Elder Read's time in Huércal-Overa is drawing to a close, and the climate there is changing just a little; not much, it's still hot.  In fact, it's gone from boiling to hot!.

Last week they didn't have the success they had been having in previous weeks although they feel that they were doing everything ;possible to further the work.

This morning - Monday, P-Day - they went to play football, which was supposed to start at 11.30, but nobody turned up until 12.15; and they had to go so they didn't get to play after all.  Elder Read has learnt much about punctuality in Spain ha ha!  And he expects to see a lot more of this before his mission finishes!

His companion has received an ENORMOUS parcel with loads of things and a new camera because he damaged the other; so now he's taking photos of everything!  It's rather amusing.

Last Friday they had a Zone Meeting.  Elder Read had received a prospectus from Reading University, so now  he's got two: from Reading and Bristol. He says he really doesn't want to go to Reading.  Evidently he was discussing this at the meeting and discovered that the Americans all pronounce Reading like reading a book.

After the meeting they all went to eat at Dominos, after which they had to run back to the chapel with the zone leaders who were giving them a lift to the bus station.  But they were laden with Elder Dean's heavy parcel, two boxes of Books of Mormon, the new Liahona, 15 DVDs of he Restoration and a whole lot more.  With the heat, it wasn't that enjoyable a journey home!!

They have had a very enjoyable family home evening with both investigators and members. (At the moment they are trying to get permission from the husband of an investigator for her and their daughter to be baptised).

On Sunday, lots of investigators promised to come to church - but no-one came!  Hence, one of Elder Read's and Elder Dean's favourite sayings - said in English - is "JUST COME TO CHURCH."

Pues se está terminando mis tiempo aquí en Huércal-Overa y también se está cambiando un poquitito el clima. Bueno, no mucho; todavía hace calor jaja :P A bajado de hirviendo a caluroso jaja :P 

Pues esta semana no vimos tanto éxito como las otras semanas pero sentimos que hemos hecho todo lo posible por hacer la obra aquí en esta semana. 

Íbamos a jugar fútbol hoy y habíamos quedado con todos a las 11:30 para jugar. Pero nadie vino hasta las 12:15. Y tuvimos que irnos. Entonces no jugamos nada. He aprendido mucho de el ser puntual a los sitios aquí jaja. Algo que voy a aplicar MUCHO más cuando termino mi misión.

MI compañero recibió un paquete SUPER grande. Con un montón de chuches y una nueva cámara porque se rompió la otra jaja. Pues ahora está tomando fotos de TODO. Es un poco gracioso jaja :P

Fuimos a la reunión de Zona el viernes. Me llegó un prospectus de la Universidad de Reading. Ahora tengo dos. Uno de Bristol y otro de Reading. La verdad es que no me gustaría ir a Reading. Todos los americanos lo estaban pronunciando como reading (leyendo) Y pensaron que se llamaba la the reading university (la universidad donde se lee) jaja :P 

Pues fuimos a Dominos para almorzar con la zona, luego tuvimos que correr hasta la capilla con los lideres de Zona a su coche para que nos llevasen a la estación de autobuses para coger el bus a tiempo. Tuvimos 2 cajas de Libros de Mormón (pesan bastante) el paquete de mi compañero, la nueva Liahona, 15 DVDs de la restauración y muchas otras cosas más. Con la calor no era un caminada muy divertida hacia casa jaja :P

Tuvimos una noche de hogar divertida con investigadores y miembros. (todavía estamos intentando conseguir el permiso del esposo para que deja que su esposa y su hija se bautizan) 

UN montón de gente se comprometieron a venir a la capilla ayer. Pero no vinieron... Grrr! Una de nuestras frases favoritas es "JUST COME TO CHURCH!" jaja :P

Much Success in Huércal-Overa - Mucho Exito en Huércal-Overa

Esta familia eran investigadores pero se fueron a Bolivia. La madre  mostró a Elder Read y Elder Dean como hacer pollo frito estilo KFC yum yum yum :P
This family were investigators but they've gone to Bolivia.  The mother taught Elder Read and Elder Dean how to do fried chicken in the style of KFC.  Yum yum yum!!

They have had another really good week and it's gone very quickly.  When he wrote to us he couldn't believe it was Monday already!

They have had a lot of success there in Huércal-Overa - with 24 discussions last week. And no, Elder Read's shaver isn't broken; his beard just grows very quickly!

The truth is that the time has gone so quickly that it is difficult for Elder Read to recall what's been happening.  He only knows that he's tired;  they've been working really hard and he has blisters and an ankle that hurts.  His companion also has aches and pains.

He doesn't have a photo of him and his companion in suits but he'll send one next week so we can update the photo in Southampton Chapel.

Elder Read says he' gaining weight in this area as it's small and they don't have to walk as fast as he has had to in his other areas. And his companion doesn't like running.  He hopes his next one will!!!! Could it also be due to the food?  they obviously enjoy cooking.

Pues hemos tenido una semana muy buena. y MUY rápida. No pude creer que hoy era lunes.

Pues estamos viendo mucho éxito aquí en Huércal-Overa con 24 charlas esta semana. Y Mamá no se me malogró la afeitadora. MI barba crece rápido jaja :P

La verdad es que la semana pasó tan rápida que ni me acuerdo lo que pasó jaja. Solo sé que estoy cansado. Trabajamos duro. Y tengo ampollas y un tobillo que duele. Mi compañero también tiene los dedos malos.

NO tengo una foto de mi compañero y yo en traje. Pero la semana que viene les daré una foto :)

Estoy ganando peso aquí. Como es un lugar muy pequeño no caminamos tan rápido como en mis otras áreas. Y mi compañero no le gusta correr. Espero que mi próximo sí jaja :P
