Another Baptism Date - Otra Fecha Bautismal

Sister Bangerter, Elder Marchant, Elder Antezana who trained him - and Elder Read
Hermana Bangerter, Elder Marchant, Elder Antezana quien lo entrenó - y Elder Read

Last week was an excellent one for Elder Read and his companion Elder Orr. Eva, whose husband had baptised her the Sunday before, was confirmed a member of the Church by her father-in-law, and the family invited the elders to join the circle.

Eva and her family before the baptism. Eva y su familia antes el bautismo.

They have another baptism date.  His name is José Romero; he is going to be baptised on the 16th March and Elder Read thinks that will be a lovely baptism. He comes from Ica, which is in southern Peru, on the coast and they want their Ward Mission Leader to baptise him as he is also Peruvian - from Puno. These two brethren send their greetings to us!!

Their other investigator, Richard, from Ecuador, is also doing well.  He went to church in Seville on Sunday and they want to arrange a date this week for his baptism.

A lot of Elder Read's best friends are about to finish their missions. They include Élder Tenney and Élder Avilés, two of his closest friends, which makes him feel rather strange. He doesn't like it!  HOWEVER, Elder Metcalf is training.

This appears to be on the door of a car.

On Monday Elder Read and Elder Orr were going to eat at the house of some members.

The ward is very lively at the moment.  The other day they taught a super discussion to José with Abraham, their ward mission leader.

They are fine spiritually.  Physically they're very tired - as ever!  He banged his knee the other day when they were doing a service project, so it hurts a little.  But he's fine.

Their new district leader is a friend with whom he served in Cartagena.

The work is going well.  In fact, all is well in their part of Zion.We are urged to keep praying and working with the missionaries.

Me siento SUPER raro... No me gusta.

Elder Read says THEY HAVE HAD A BAPTISM!  Eva's husband baptised her and it was an incredible day.  The truth is that it had been a difficult week - but it was worth it!

He'll be in Castilleja de la Cuesta for another six weeks, which is what he had been praying for.  Elder Read prayed to serve in that area and then he prayed to be able to stay. So they're very excited and now they have a goal to have a baptism in this transfer. And they can!

He's received a parcel from home and is especially delighted to have received all the chocolate.  He says he's like some more Jaffa Cakes!!  His companion also says thank you as he too loves chocolate!

Elder Read says he forgot to tell us that Elder Orr is from Thatcher in Arizona and his old school appears in various Mormon Messages - and Elder Orr too.

A number of Elder Read's friends are finishing their missions this week.  Oh Nooo! he says. He's really going to miss them.

They are delighted now to have an investigator by the name of Richard, who is from Ecuador, and is the fiancé of the Ward Mission Leader's daughter, the Ward Mission Leader being the brother-in-law of Eva who has just been baptised.  So he has a lot of strength there and they hope to be able to baptise him this transfer - and their goal will be realised!!

So all is going very well in Castilleja de la Cuesta.

Me quede 6 semanas mas aquí.

¿Me podrían mandar mas Jaffa Cakes?

21 Discussions - 21 Lecciones

Last week was another excellent one.  They taught 21 discussions, 10 of the with investigators and the rest being divided between active and less-active members.  This is their goal each week, and Elder Read says that if they have it in their hearts they'll achieve it.  the Lord helps them massively!

They have got wet a lot!!  Like England it's been raining very day and on Monday he saw the sun for the first time in a week, and that was the day they went to Seville for their P-Day with the other elders, one of whom - Elder Tenney - goes home next week.  Elder Read calls him his mission brother.

Elder Tenney

Elder Read and Elder Orr are getting very excited about Eva's baptism, which is to take place next Sunday and and Elder Read hopes he won't be transferred before it happens.

Elder Read says that Elder Orr has become his favourite companion - and there they are above.  He's very grateful that they are working together.

Unfortunately the computer he was using on Monday wouldn't let him send any photos, so I have put these together and I hope you enjoy them.

What follow are some photos of Castilleja de la Cuesta:

A Very Good and Very Interesting Week - Una Semana Muy interesante y Muy Buena.

Elder Read at Sevilla Stake Conference
Elder Read a la Conferencia de Estaca de Sevilla

Elder Read reports in his latest e-mail that he has had a very interesting and a very good week.

And then he says:"I was in a car crash... No one hurt, but one bruise on my leg. All good."
They were turning left but another car was there as well. So that's what happened:
Germany 1: United States 0.
The pictures will explain all!

And now for the good news. They have achieved any of their goals and their zone leaders sent them messages saying well done. What more? ....They gave service during which Elder Read hurt his hand a little.  he doesn't say how but here's a picture!

And they have had Stake Conference in which there was a missionary choir, which was wonderful.  All the missionaries in the stake sang in it. He saw lots of people from Huelva.

Two of their investigators attended conference, which was very special as Elder Ballard spoke by satellite. When one of the investigators realised he was an apostle he took lots of photos!

Monday was a quiet P-day and Elder Read says it was raining a lot so it felt like England, although the weather will soon get better.  And it is getting slightly warmer, which is shown in how people are dressing.

Then this week they have the goal to be positive and follow through, so all will go really well.  He says don't worry about him:; all is well. And they are really pleased because of the baptism they're going to have on the 16th.

Elder Read says that he knows that missionary work is the most important of all the world.  The only calling more important than that of a missionary is to be a father.  (Thank you, Elder Read!!!)

Elder Read dice:

I was in a car crash... No one hurt, but one bruise on my leg. All good :)

All in the cause of missionary work:Well-worn scriptures and shoes

At Seville Stake Conference

(Muchas gracias, Elder Read!!!)
