Elder Hampel y Elder Read estan en Cartagena 1

The above photo shows Elder Read collecting his new companion from the Mission office in Málaga.  He says he is very well and pleased with the opportunity to train Elder Hampel, who is American although he has a German name.  He is a very good missionary with a lot of faith and with a real desire to serve the Lord.  They are getting along very well together and they have a lot in common.

They are now in a new flat with two other missionaries, one of whom is one of Elder Read's best friends on his mission.  That is Elder Avilés, which delights Elder Read as he is very entertaining!

Elder Read and his new companion are working very hard.  Elder Hampel already has more confidence and his Spanish is improving a lot but naturally relies on Elder Read, which he - Elder Read - has to get used to. However, he is able to take his own decisions as appropriate.

Here's a little something!  Elder Read is speaking like a Spaniard: pronouncing the C and the Z "th".  He says don't judge him!  Ha ha!  It's because his companion wants to learn Spanish the way he'll use it and not the Latin-American that Elder Read uses.

His district has grown.  There are now six companionships: a super large district!!

He ends his e-mail by asking how the work in our ward of Southampton is going.  Please feel free to reply!

Yo estoy MUY bien :) Estoy tan feliz que tengo esta oportunidad de entrenar a Élder Hampel :) Él es Americano. Pero sí, su apellido es alemán jeje :P Es un misionero muy bueno con mucha fe :) Y con deseos a servir al señor.  Y sí nos llevamos muy bien y tenemos mucho en común :) Estamos en un nuevo piso con dos mas misioneros. Uno de mis mejores amigos de la misión, Élder Avilés y su nuevo compañero están en mi piso :D ¡¡ME ENCANTA!! Es super divertido :) 

Hermana Cameron van a trabajar a Elche 1 con Hermana Kunz, que es una area. nueva.  Elder Read and Elder Hampel are standing in as Ayudantes for a few minutes. (They did really well.)

Estamos trabajando muy duro, mi compañero ya tiene mas confianza y su español está mejorando mucho. Él depende mucho de mi.que es normal por un misionero nuevo. Tengo que acostumbrarme a eso. Pero si quiero que él puede tomar sus propias decisiones. 

Bueno, les cuento algo. Ya estoy hablando como un español. Con la "C" y la "Z".españolas... ¡NO ME JUZGAN! Jeje :P Es  para que mi compañero puede aprender el Español que él va a usar, y no el español que yo uso. 

Mi Distrito ya es mas grande. Ya somos seis compañerismos, es un distrito super grande. 

¿Como va la obra en el barrio? ¿Todo bien? :) 

Traslados - Transfers

Elder Read has news. He's going to be training and he's very excited!  Tomorrow he goes to Málaga to collect his new companion and it's quite possible that he'll be American, so it'll be very interesting at first with regards to the language.  His plan is to speak Spanish as much as possible.  Meanwhile, his companion is going to Aljarafe, a town near Sevilla.

And another change:  they are moving to a different flat so everything will be new.  He says he is very grateful for the last three months.  They have been difficult but he has learnt a lot.

In answer to a question from Amalia, Elder Read says they have air conditioning in their flat.  During the night they have it on the night setting so they sleep well.  Sometimes they feel a little cold when they get up in the morning, but he likes it.

Two exhausted missionaries!  Dos misioneros agotados!

 Tengo noticias... ¡¡¡¡¡VOY A ENTRENAR!!!!! Voy a Málaga para recoger a mi nuevo compañero mañana. Estoy MUY animado. :) Es muy posible que el nuevo sea americano. Entonces va a hacer un poco interesante al principio con el idioma. Mi plan es hablarle en español lo mas que sea posible. Vamos a mudarnos de piso también entonces todo va a estar nuevesito :)

Estoy muy agradecido por los últimos tres meses, Han sido difíciles, pero he aprendido un montón.

Tenemos aire condicionado. Entonces durante la noche la pusimos (en el modo de noche) entonces dormimos bien. Aveces nos levantamos con un poco de frío, pero me gusta :

Una broma familial!

Ésta semana a sido una buena semana. Un poco difícil aveces pero buena. MI compañero se va a Aljarafe, un Pueblo cerca de Sevilla. 

Reuniones Emocionantes - Emotional Meetings

Sorry the blog is late again but the internet was down at the beginning of the week and I've been trying to catch up ever since.  And there's lots of news!

Disculpen la tardanza del blog otra vez pero no funcionaba el internet al comienzo de la semana y yo estaba poniendo al día mis mensajes.

Last week Elder Read had to go to Málaga for District Leader training and I can now tell you about a certain Elder Buckway.

Amalia was baptised twenty four years ago in Paris by Elder Buckway and, when she was looking at the Spain Málaga Mission blog recently, she saw a photo of an Elder Buckway who looked just like him, so she naturally thought it was his son.  She contacted the mission who reported back that it was in fact her Elder Buckway's nephew.  Sister Deere, the mission president's wife, wrote to her Elder Buckway but I had to embargo this news until Amalia had heard from him.  Needless to say, he was very excited to hear that she's married (to me) and that our son is now serving in the same mission as his nephew!!  24 years later!!!

But that isn't all.  When Elder Read arrived in Málaga  he  met by Elder Powell and discovered that his companion is..... Elder Buckway!!  And not only that but they are serving in the same ward as Adriana and Cere Angel and their family.  Elder Powell made several phone calls and they were able to meet Elder Buckway at the railway station.

Needless to say, Elder Read was absolutely delighted to see him as without the uncle his mother wouldn't have joined the  church, she and I wouldn't have met and..........................................!  It was a very emotional meeting and together they were so happy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Then Elder Buckway phoned Cere and they met her and Adriana at the bus station.

That was also an emotional experience and absolutely great!  He took some videos but they're too big to send.

Elder Read bears testimony of the power of the priesthood, as they gave Joao a blessing to help him keep the Word of Wisdom; and it works.

When Elder Read wrote to us on Monday he said that they were going to have a surprise farewell for Sister Nelson, who is about to finish her mission.  It was going to be at the chapel and, of course, she had no idea!!

Everything is going well, they are working hard and transfers are coming up.  If there's a move he'd like to train, but it's whatever the Lord wants.

La última semana Elder Read tuvo que ir a Málaga por el entrenamiento de los lideres del distrito y ahora puedo deciros sobre un Elder Buckway.  

Elder Read esta fingiendo a tirarse en el agua!  
Amalia se bautizo hace veinte cuatro años a Paris por Elder Buckway, y cuando estaba leyendo el blog de la España Málaga Misión vi una foto de un Elder Buckway que pareció el otro.  Ella escribió a la misión quien dijo que el Elder Buckway es el sobrino del otro.  Hermana Deere, la esposa del presidente de la Misión,  escribió al tío y yo pude decir nada sobre esto hasta el había escrito a Amalia.     Sin sorpresa, eso Elder Buckway  fue muy animado a descubrir que Amalia es casada ( a mi) y que tenemos un hijo sirviendo en la misma misión a su sobrino. Despues 24 años!

Pero no es todo! Cuando Elder Read llego al entrenamiento de los lideres del distrito, conoció  ha un élder que se llama élder Powell, y pues, su compañero es... Élder Buckway!

Elder Read continua:  Ademas de éso, ellos dos estan sirviendo en el mismo barrio que Cereb Angel y su familia. Entonces Élder Powell hizo algunas llamadas, conocí a Élder Buckway en el estación de trenes, me encantó TANTO verle! Tomé una foto y te la estoy mandando. Era muy emocionante y ambos de nosotros estábamos tan felices :D Ademas de eso, llamo a Cere y me encontraron en la estación de buses en Málaga. ¡También era un experiencia muy emocionante y MUY bacan!  También de estoy mandando fotos :) Tomé algunos videos también pero no se pueden enviar. 

Todo está muy bien. Sé el poder del Sacerdocio. Sentí que debía dar a Joao Carlos una bendición de salud y aceptó y ahora guarda la Palabra de Sabiduría; la bendición  funcionó :) 

 Una Hermana de mi distrito se va a casa la semana que viene, y termina su misión. Se llama la Hermana Nelson; hoy vamos a tener un despedida para ella en la capilla, pero es una sorpresa entonces ella no sabe nada aún jeje :P 

Todo esta bien, estamos trabajando duro y estoy animado para saber lo que va a venir el traslado que viene :) Me gustaría entrenar. Pero lo que el señor quiere :) 

Málaga - Cere y Adriana

You'll recall that Elder Read said that he always looked forward to going to Málaga as it was possible that he might meet Cere Angel.  Well, he did better than that as he met Adriana as well, and here they are.
Van a recordar que Elder Read dijo que cuando va a Málaga siempre hay la posibilidad que podría encontrar Cere Angel.  Bueno, ha hecho mejor porque encontró Adriana también!

Now what about the answers to what was wrong about the photos?

The car crash is pretty obvious to me.  El accidente es muy evidente a mi.

The door?  Well, it doesn't exist, does it?  La puerta no existe, no?

I suppose what's wrong with this bird is that it doesn't have a tail.
Supongo que el poblema con el pajarito es que no tiene una cola.

Seven Months Already - Ya Siete Meses

Elder Read is glad we're enjoying summer at last.  In Cartagena it's 32 degrees - and will rise!  In August it'll go up to 42 degrees in Cartagena and 50 degrees in Sevilla.

He can't believe that he's been on his mission for seven months already.  How time flies!

Yesterday Elder Read went to Málaga for district leader training and is returning today.  He is excited to go and learn and he says it's interesting as each time he goes to Málaga there is the possibility of seeing Cere Ángel - a link with the Portsmouth YSA.

Their new investigator, Joao Carlos, was at church on Sunday and all is well.  They gave him a blessing to help him give up drinking  and smoking.  And since the blessing he hasn't drunk at all and only smoked a little.

Elder Read and his companion Elder Sandelin had an excellent week last week.  They have been working a lot with the members.  Their ward mission leader launched a plan with the result that they now have a member going out with them almost every single day of the week.  And it's working VERY well!

And now for a funny story!  They went to visit Joao with a member.  They failed to make contact with him him but in a very amusing way.  He was completely drunk, fast asleep on his bed, snoring very loudly and wearing only a pair of pants.  He was slightly embarrassed the next day when they saw him, but it was then that they gave him the blessing.

Las fotos, tres cosas mas falsas que he encontrado aquí en españa, si las pongas en el blog la mayoría de la gente las van a entender.  Por favor cual es la solución?

Elder Read says these photos show the three most incorrect things he has found since he has been in Spain.  He says that if we put them on the blog you'll know what they are.  Pleeeeease tell us as we can only interpret knocking on the concrete!

Elder Read dice:

Jeje me alegro que están disfrutando del verano :) Aquí hace como 32 grados, y va subiendo. En Agosto va a subir hasta como 42 aquí en Cartagena. Y en Sevilla 50+. 

 No puedo creer que ya llevo 7 meses en la misión... ¡Como a ido el tiempo! 

 Mañana me voy a Málaga por entrenamiento de lideres de distrito. Vuelvo a Cartagena el Miércoles. Estoy muy animado para ir y aprender. Es interesante porque cada ves que voy a Málaga hay la posibilidad que voy a ver a Cere Ángel. Sería interesante jeje.

Todo va muy bien, Joao Carlos vino a la iglesia este domingo y va super bien. Le dimos una bendición para ayudarle dejar de beber, y también fuma mucho. El no dijo que desde que recibió la bendición ya no a bebido, pero sigue fumando un poco.

Bueno, hemos tenido una semana muy buena, hemos estado trabajando mucho con los miembros. Nuestro líder misional ha hecho un plan y ya tenemos un miembro saliendo con nosotros casi CADA DÍA de la semana. Está funcionando MUY bien :) 

 Una historia graciosa, fuimos a visitar a Joao con un miembro, nos falló pero en una manera muy graciosa. Estaba COMPLETAMENTE emborrachado, allí dormiendo en su cama, roncando MUY fuerte y solo en sus calzoncillos jajaaa!! :P Se avergonzó un poco cuando le vimos otra ves el día siguiente jeje :P Y eso era cuando le dimos la bendición :) 

A New Investigator and P-Day activity Un Nuevo Investigador y Actividad de P-Day

As it was Amalia's birthday last Friday this is Elder Read's way of sending birhtday wishes.  It reads "Happy Birthday Mum."  Porque fue el cumpleaños de Amalia el viernes pasado eso es el manera como Elder Read envía sus felicidades.

Last week Elder Read and his companion found a new investigator. Hie name is Joao Carlos and he is Portuguese, so it gives Elder Read the opportunity to practise his Portuguese with him.  He is very good and they want to set a baptism date with him today.

Today being P-Day they are going to play skittles, and they are hoping that a less-active member will go with them, which they feel will be good for him.

Yesterday Elder Read and his companion had the opportunity to see the broadcast of "Hastening the Work,"   a special First Presidency & Quorum of the Twelve led session from the Mission Presidents Seminar.  All the missionaries were invited and Elder Read says it was INCREDIBLE and he really enjoyed it.

Encontramos un nuevo investigador la semana pasada. Se llama Joao Carlos, Es portugués entonces tengo la oportunidad de practicar mi portugués con él. Se muy bueno y queremos poner una fecha bautismal con él hoy :) 

Hoy parece que vamos a ir a hacer bolo, un menos activo quizás va a venir con nosotros entonces espero que va a hacer algo bueno para él :)  

Ayer tuvimos la oportunidad de escuchar el transmisión del capacitación mundial de lideres. Todos los misioneros estaban invitados a ir y fue ¡¡INCREÍBLE!!  Me encantó :)
