Elder Read dijo:

Hemos tenido una semana muy bien. Tenemos dos fechas bautismales para el 23 de febrero y estamos trabajando duro, duro. Estoy muy cansado pero muy, muy bien :) 

A la charla fogonera cante "La Oración del Profeta" pero a la melodía de "Come thou fount of every blessing." El presidente de la Misión  y su familia los encantaron  y el barrio también;  ya me estan pidiendo que canto mas...

"En la foto estoy cocinando en el piso de Aljarafe durante el intercambio con Elder Blanch. Esta semana vamos a ir a una conferencia de zona con Elder Teixeira, Presidente del Area, va hacer ¡BACAN! 

Elder Read wrote in yesterday's e-mail that they had a very good week last week.  They have two baptism dates for 23rd February and they are working really, really hard, and he is tired but very, very well.  

At the fireside they attended with the Mission President and his family that we mentioned last week, he sang "Joseph Smith's First Prayer" to the tune of "Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing" that our ward choir has sung.  Both the president and his family and the ward loved it and wanted Elder Read to sing more.

In the photo Elder Read is cooking paella in the flat in Aljarafe during his day with Elder Blanch.

This week they are going to a zone conference with Elder Texeira which, in Elder Read's own words, will be GREAT!

Today Elder Read has given us more information about the  photos I put up from Facebook  the other day, so I've edited them so we can see them properly and posted them below..

This was taken at the house of a slightly "menos activa" - less-active (she´s the older woman). And the other two are investigators. "They´re really awesome people!!" says Elder Read.

Hoy día Elder Read nos a dado mas información sobre las fotos  de Facebook; entonces las he redactado  y las he puesto de nuevo. Los elderes están a la casa de una hermano un poco menos activa - la mujer mas vieja - y los otros son investigadores "muy impresionante." 

Elder Read explico el otro día que hizo un intercambio y fue a Aljarafe para pasar el día con  Elder Blanch.   Es una distancia de un poco mas de una hora  por carro, o coche como se dice en España, desde Huelva.  Aljarafe es uno de los pocos areas con carro, pero es necesario a ver un dvd por misioneros antes se puede obtener permisión para manejar en la Misión.   Entonces, Elder Read no pudo esta vez.  

Elder Read said the other day that he had an exchange in Aljarafe, which he has today explained is about an hour and a bit by car from Huelva. "Aljarafe is one of the few areas with a car, but  you have to watch the car training dvds for missionaries before you´re allowed to drive in the mission, so I wan´t allowed to drive that time. But I think the president may want me to at some point, he´s been hinting at it..."   Could it mean that he's a future AP (Assistant to the President)?

The Lord''s Work Goes On - El Trabajo del Señor Continua

It's wonderful to hear from our Elder Read each week, even when the e-mail is shorter than usual, as is today's, but he sent three photos..
Es fantástico a recibir  los emails desde Elder Read aunque sean mas corte que normal, como lo de hoy.  Pero envió tres fotos.

This photo shows Elders Read and Write/Wright with President and Sister Deere and their children at a fireside that apparently was the highlight of the week.
Esta foto muestra los Elderes Leer y Escribir con Presidente y Hermana Deere y sus hijos a una charla fogonera que, aparantamente, fue el punto culminante de la semana - ayer.

Amalia was worried about the weather in Huelva, wondering whether Elder Read would need thermals and boots.  However, Robbie said:  "Really it's not very cold and I promise you it's not going to snow in Huelva. This link, in fact, shows that it's 14C today: http://www.eltiempo.es/huelva.html 

His blisters are a thing of the past because a few weeks ago he bought a very comfortable pair of shoes which, he says, lack for nothing.       

In the last week they have obtained two commitments for baptism on 23rd February, so well done lads!  And it was also made interesting because he had two exchanges.  On Tuesday Elder Peña came to Huelva to swap with Elder Wright for the day and  on Friday he spent the day with Elder Blanch, an American, in Aljarafe.  LEER TODO ESO EN CASTELLANO ABAJO COMO ESCRITO POR ROBBIE!

I don't know how far he had to travel that day but at least this map shows the two towns.      No se la distancia entre las dos ciudades, pero la mapa muestra las dos.

Yesterday, Sunday, they had a Fireside with the Mission President, President Deere and his wife and he was abe to sang with his guitar, which he bought last week.  He didn't say what he sang, but expect it was Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing in English although I've just found a couple of versions in Spanish.  He said rhe fireside was fantastic.

Y otra cosa ya compre zapatos hace algunas semanas; me olvide a decirte. Son muy cómodos y no me falta nada! Esta semana consigamos dos fechas bautismales para el 23 de Febrero! :D Era una semana un poquito interesante porque tuvimos dos intercambios. Elder Peña vino conmigo aquí en Huelva por un día el martes y yo me fui con Elder Blanch (Americano) a Aljarafe por un día el viernes.

Ayer tuvimos una charla fogonera con el Presidente de Misión y su familia, era BUENÍSIMO !!! Yo toce la guitarra (compre una guitarra también la semana pasada)

Como saben, es necesario para me a escribir en castellano y ingles y ojala mi castellano va a mejorar  y voy a calcular como presentar las paginas muy agradable. Aveces no puedo evitar a poner juntos las dos idiomas.

Creación de la Estaca Cartagena

ALICANTE - MIGUEL VERDÚ, DIRECTOR DE ASUNTOS PÚBLICOS, ELCHE — 

Los días 2 y 3 de diciembre se realizó la reorganización de las estacas de Elche y Valencia; y la creación de la nueva Estaca de Cartagena.

La reunión fue en IFA (recinto ferial de Alicante) a la que asistieron 2320 personas, y que fue presidido por el Élder Texeira, y ayudado por Élder Kearon. También aisitieron los presidentes de las misiones de Málaga y Barcelona.

Las presidencias de las estacas son las siguientes:

Presidencia de la estaca de Valencia:

• Presidente José Francisco Vilar Roca.
• Jesús Puch Fuster, primer consejero.
• Antonio Samuel Adama Coedo, segundo consejero.

Presidencia de la estaca de Elche:

The Creation of  Cartagena Stake

On 2nd and 3rd December last took place the reorganisation of Elche and Valencia Stakes and the creation of the new stake of Cartagena.

Then follow details of the new stake presidencies.  The point of sharing this news is to show how Elder Read's Mission is growing, together with the Barcelona Mission alongside it.

Unexpected success - and food. Exito no anticipado - y comida.

Llego recién dos emails de  Elder Read, el segundo solamente con fotos de comida. Oh, me gusta galleta de reyes!  Que alegría tiene Robbie a disfrutar toda la comida española.

Recently two e-mails have arrived from Elder Read, the second just containing photos of food.

En nuestra misión aqui en Inglaterra los misioneros tienen una hora y media para hacer sus emails, pero en España Málaga tienen solamente una hora; entonces Robbie no tiene mucho tiempo para Leer y Escribir a pesar de los nombres de el y su compañero!     Sin embargo, hubo tiempo a contar que un milagro paso:

"Pues esta semana (bueno el sábado  un milagro paso, y también ayer. Todos nuestros citas nos fallaron. Fuimos al plan de respaldo, del plan de respaldo, y eso nos fallo también  Pues, cuando paso estábamos pensando ¿Y ya que? Justo cuando paso alguien contacto a nosotros, hablamos por una hora mas o menos y lo vamos a visitar hoy!
Y ayer tuvimos una lección pero buenísima !!!! Realmente no entiendo lo que paso, pero el espíritu estaba allí y estos hombres (ya investigadores) Nos quieren muchísimo!

Parecen que son misioneros de la zona.  I suppose these are the missionaries in the zone.

In our mission here in England the missionaries have an hour and a half to deal with their e-mails but in Spain Málaga they only have an hour, although their names are Read and Write.  However, Elder Read did have time to recount a miracle that happened. On Saturday and yesterday.  All their appointments fell through;  they went to their back up plan and that fell through as well; so they were thinking "What next?"   And then someone approached them and they spoke for an hour - more or less!!  They are going to see the person again this evening.

And yesterday they had a wonderful lesson.  Robbie doesn't understand what happened but the spirit was really strong and they love those investigators  very much.

And now - Food.  Ahora -   Comida!

 Oh, how I love galleta de reyes - or kings cake.  Me gusta galleta de reyes.  Robbie nos dio que compraría galleta de reyes y - ahora - la prueba.  Robbie told us he would buy kings cake - and here's the proof.

Elder Read's Birthday

Although we had Elder Read's area address, the parcel we sent him for his birthday on 2nd January was forwarded to the Mission Home.  This was the envelope of the card we sent and we didn't discover until yesterday that they DID manage to get his parcel to him for his birthday.  He had a great day.

Aunque teníamos la dirección del área de Elder Read el paquete lo enviamos fue remitido a la oficina de la misión.  La foto es el sobre de la carta lo enviamos.   Ayer hemos descubierto que llego el día de su cumpleaños y a tenido un día fantastico.

La Misión dice:  finalmente Elderes  Escribir y  Leer. Los amamos a pesar de la mapa de América del Sur en su pared!  And last but not least, Elders Escribir and Leer.  We love them even if they do have a map of South America on their wall. 

Christmas and New Year - Navidad y Año Nuevo

So here are Elder Read and Elder Wright, now in their area, which they're both new to.

They had a wonderful Christmas, being invited to members both on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day and  subsequently on New Year's Eve; and they've been really busy tracting and visiting less-actives.

Due to the bus strike, and all the walking that entailed, Elder Read suffered quite badly from blisters, but by last Monday, 31st December, they were very much better.  That night Elders Read and Wright went to a family for a meal, and the Mission President had given all the missionaries permission to stay with members until midnight, although it would still be necessary for them to have their usual 8 hours of sleep, as that is essential.  Robbie's birthday was on 2nd January and they were going to a Peruvian family for a meal that day, and the sister was going to make something special for Robbie.

Dice Robbie:

Las ampollas están mejorando un montón  Gracias! Ya no duele mucho :) Hoy día - el 31 de diciembre - vamos a ir a las casa de una miembro y su familia.  El presidente  de la Misión  esta dejando que cada misionario se pueden quedar en la casa de los miembros hasta las 00:00 y a esta hora hay que salir y caminar a piso. Podemos comer las uvas y luego ya vamos, y quiere que cada uno tiene 8 horas para dormir, entonces necesitamos dormir 8 horas esta noche, no importa que hora llegamos a piso, 8 horas es esencial! Pues ayer encontré una familia peruana!! :D Tenemos una cita para cenar, el miércoles para mi cumpleaños :D :D :D La hermana va hacer algo especial para mi, y comida peruana :D jaja. 

This mission has a very high baptism rate. The goal for 2013 is 555 baptisms. The goal for 2012 was 404 and they smashed it!
